F. Adams Gwen Adams Jackie Fioretti The meeting was called to order by Everett Putney at 10.00 AM. Pledge Allegiance to the Flag was given, and a prayer was offered by B. F. Adams. Everett asked if anyone wanted the minutes read. A motion was made by B. F. Adams and seconded by Mary Tyler to accept the May minutes. Motion passed. Jackie Fioretti thanked Fran Trendler for taking the May minutes. The Treasurer’s report for May was given by Shirley Holstrom. A motion was made by Fran Trendler and seconded by Bobbie Brown to accept the report and the motion passed. Bills that totaled $828.98 for the month of May & June were submitted for approval. A motion was made by Fran Trendler and seconded by Jane Huisingh to pay the bills. The motion passed. Old Business: Events Coordinator, Rick Merrick gave an updated report on the Timberon Blues & BBQ Festival on June 30th and July 1st. The barbeque contest was canceled at the last committee meeting due to lack of interest. Barbeque will be served and Moe’s Barbeque out of El Paso is showing interest in having a barbeque booth. The TDC (Timberon Development Council) will have a barbeque wagon. Arts and Craft Vendors are still signing up for a booth. The Band line up hasn’t changed. The T-Shirts will be in on Wednesday and they will be for sale at the Timberon Gallery on Thursday for $16.00 plus tax. They will be printed with the poster that is on the computer at timberon.org. Rick was concerned about covering the debts for this event. Jane Huisingh made a motion to spend up to $8,000.00 for this event. Fran Trendler seconded the motion and after discussion it passed. Bobbie Brown gave an update on the TDC Fly-In for May 18th thru 20th. Approximately ten planes participated and everyone had a good time. Bobbie thanked everyone who brought food and helped with the cooking. She is compiling the final report and it looks like we will have about $147.00 profit. Great job Bobbie! Thanks to you and Bill for coordinating this event. New Business: B. F. Adams advised since our Web Master, Charlie Ross has moved from Timberon there is another person, who lives in Timberon, interested in the job. Shirley Holstrom made a motion to hire this person and their pay not to exceed the hourly rate we paid to Judy and Charlie. B. F. Adams seconded the motion. After discussion Shirley Holstrom made a motion to rescind her motion and postpone the decision until after the Timberon Blues and Barbeque Festival. Jane Huisingh seconded the motion and it passed. Rick Merrick will contact this person and will report at the next meeting. Jackie Fioretti gave a report on property that is being donated to the Timberon Development Council. It is .970 acres and it is located in T3 on Birdman. Fran Trendler made a motion to raffle this piece of property and Gwen Adams seconded the motion. After discussion it was advised to do this later in the year. Fran Trendler made a motion to rescind her motion and it was seconded by Gwen Adams. The motion passed. Everett Putney read a bid received on T3, Block 57, Lot 3 for 1.05 acres in the amount of $1,700.00. The full tax value on this property is $3,360.00. After discussion, B. F. Adams made a motion to reject the bid and counter offer with the full taxable value. Fran Trendler seconded the motion and it passed. Jackie Fioretti will compile the letter and send it. There wasn’t any communications to report. Everett Putney advised he and Jackie Fioretti attended an SCMRC&D (South Central Mountain Resource Conservation and Development) meeting last week and learned Lincoln County Commissioners has supported SCMRC&D with a $44,000.00 donation. A similar request was sent and also presented to Otero County Commissioners and it was denied at this time. SCMRC&D through the State Forestry has spent a lot of money supporting Otero County with funds to thin private properties and State Forestry property. Rick Merrick advised the government is out of money. Fire funds have been cut in half over the past two years and fire prevention has been cut. Rick Merrick advised we still need volunteers for the 4th of July activities. Gwen Adams said she needs volunteers for the Fire Department to man the entrance June 29th, 30th and July 1st. If you are interested please call Rick or Gwen. A motion to adjourn was made by Fran Trendler and seconded by B. F. Adams. The meeting was adjourned at 11:30am. The next meeting of the Timberon Development Council will be held at the Timberon Lodge, July 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM. These are open meetings and anyone may attend.
