We do need volunteers for the following: 1. Parking attendants for the first hour on July 3rd. Contact Burr Holstrom if you would like to help. 2. People to help set up the town walls which will take most of the day on Thursday, July 1st . Contact Judy Underwood. We could use one more Food Booth. Right now we have 13-15 vendors. The next Western Day meeting will be on June 24th at the home of Jane Huisingh. Jackie Fioretti gave a report on the property to be donated by Mary O. Garcia’s Estate Administrator, James Bruce Clark. Mr. Clark sent a paper from the El Paso Court showing he is the legal administrator of Mary O. Garcia’s estate. After discussion, it was agreed we would process a warranty deed and request an affidavit of no lean on the property. over Page 2 Everett Putney thanked everyone who attended the Mountains in Bloom Celebration held in the Mary Glover Park last month and helped make it a big success. He also thanked those who brought a covered dish and helped set up and take down. Everyone who attended had a good time. Everett Putney gave a report on the Business Meeting that was held on May 20th. Those who attended liked the map and business advertising on the map. After discussion it was agreed we would charge $60.00 per year ($5.00 per month) for the advertising and a one time $20.00 set up fee. Jackie Fioretti volunteered to put together a letter which would be mailed to each business in Timberon. Everett Putney advised he talked to Ray Backstrom, Otero County Manager about the signs he had requested for the airstrip and the county parks. Ray told him the county doesn’t have any capital money to spend at the present time therefore his signs are on hold. They are waiting for the money from the state which will be about August or September. Everett has put a temporary sign in Mary Glover Park to remind everyone there is no overnight camping and no open fires in the county parks. There isn’t any airstrip money at the present time so the striping of the airstrip has also been put on hold. Everett advised the tie down area has been mowed. Fran Trendler showed the hand made quilt by Jane Huisingh that will be raffled at the Western Day Celebration. Everett Putney showed the bell that was given to him by his friend Fran Adams in El Paso. Richard Rodriguez made a hanger on Everett’s trailer so he will have the bell in the July 3rd Parade. Everett would like to publicly thank Richard for spending many hours polishing and fixing the bell. Everett advised the Timberon Volunteer Fire Department may also use the bell for their memorials instead of borrowing a bell off the mountain. There was discussion on the existing property that has been donated to TDC. Fran Trendler and Jackie Fioretti will work on the updated list and send it to Judy Underwood to be put on the web and also have Judy put it on Craig’s List. Jackie will email the two properties under one acre to B.F. Adams who will contact the adjacent neighbors to see if they are interested in purchasing the property. Burt Rubinowitz gave an update on the swimming pool at the Lodge. There is a need for two life guards. The filter has been brought up to specs. There is water in the pool and Shantel Keune found a volunteer to take care of the swimming pool. There has been a lot of work and effort put into trying to get the pool opened. The maintenance cost on the pool is around $30,000.00 per year. TWSD still needs more chemicals for the pool. Judy Underwood and Shantel Keune’s efforts to get money donated from WalMart and Sam’s to purchase chemicals was turned down. A rate structure for using the pool has been established. Fran Trendler made a motion to adjourn and B.F. Adams seconded the motion. The motion was approved and the meeting adjourned at 10:55 am. Our next meeting is July 10, 2010 at 10:00 am at 1841 Sacramento Drive. These are open meetings and the community is invited to attend. Respectfully submitted, Jackie Fioretti, Secretary
